In 2018 I started working for a Workers’ Compensation Insurer, specifically for a client company, a pharmaceutical multinational established in several Latin American countries. There I Implemented and ongoing support of the Workplace Health and Safety Management System (WHS-MS), including activities such as document review, update, and development. I Guided WHS legal compliance, ensuring procedures, instructions, programs, and formats were current and accurate. I Reviewed, documented, structured, and developed the WHS-MS for optimal functionality and user experience. I Conducted safety inspections of locations, machinery, equipment, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and emergency response equipment. I Delivered training programs on occupational health and safety matters. I Investigated workplace incidents and implemented corrective actions to prevent recurrence. I Proactively identified and mitigated occupational hazards to minimize workplace risks. I Managed and analyzed key metrics related to workplace illnesses and injuries. I Supported internal audit processes to ensure WHS-MS compliance including contractors and subcontractors.

I joined the human talent and WHS team of a food manufacturing company where I served as Work health and safety coordinator, there, I successfully spearheaded the coordination and management of comprehensive work health and safety programs. I leveraged strong analytical skills to conduct thorough risk assessments and propose effective mitigation strategies. I investigated workplace incidents meticulously to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. I cultivated positive working relationships with employees at all levels and fostered collaborative partnerships with external agencies. I maintained a deep understanding of health and safety regulations, ensuring the organization’s strict adherence to compliance standards.

After 2 and a half years of living in Ecuador, I returned to my country where I completed a diploma in auditing, design and implementation of the WHS Management System focused on the international standard ISO 9001 and ISO 45001. While studying, I worked on a short project in a civil construction site for residential apartments for a contractor that carried out facades, there I worked as Rope access work team leader where I Led and supervised complex rope access operations in construction industry, leveraging advanced skills in risk assessments and emergency rescue procedures. I Performed comprehensive pre-worksite risk assessments, ensuring adherence to stringent safety protocols and SWMS during all rope access operations. I Authorized and terminated rope access activities following meticulous safety checks to direct workers, contractors, and subcontractors. I Maintained clear and effective communication with team members throughout operations, fostering a collaborative safety-first environment. I Utilized a comprehensive understanding of complex rigging techniques to address diverse worksite scenarios. I Ensured strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations governing rope access work.

I supported the acquisition and management of human talent while developed and implemented health and safety policies, procedures, and initiatives, I also conducted risk assessment to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. I provided training and support to staff on health and safety best practices, including emergency procedures and ergonomic principles.

At the end of my Certificate specialization in Industrial Hygiene and Safety, I joined Kinnemed S.A.S. which is a company in the area of ​​physical rehabilitation, clinical laboratory and occupational health. This company sought to open an additional market line focusing on offering advisory services in the implementation of Work Health and Safety Management Systems. There I developed risk assessments and programs of mechanical risk prevention, I implemented and enforced safety protocols and procedures, I conducted safety inspections and audits for several client companies and supported the implementation of some industrial safety programs in those organizations.

Move Cargo S.A customs agency located in Bogotá, has more than 25 years of experience in providing customs agency services in compliance with the legal regulations in force in Colombia. It provides services and import, export, tariff classification and customs transit. There, I documented the WHS-MS and ensured that said documentation was aligned with the laws and procedures established by Colombian regulatory entities regarding industrial safety. I monitored and review HSEQ performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. I Liaised with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies on HSEQ matters, representing the company professionally at all times.

The second professional internship was developed at Adecco Colombia for the client Editorial el Tiempo, where I trained workers who sold printed newspapers on the streets of the city. A program for the prevention of psychosocial risks was designed for them, they were trained in road safety, they were provided with personal protection elements suited for their job and they were included in personal development programs.

There I implemented and maintained HSEQ management systems in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards, I conducted risk assessments and inspections to identify hazards and control measures and I provided guidance and support to site teams on HSEQ matters, including toolbox talks and training sessions.

I developed my first professional practices in two different companies while I was still a student, the first was a plastic input manufacturing company where I had the opportunity to learn about the production process from the raw material reception stage to the transformation of the molten plastic and final product and all the risks that involved these processes for the workers of the manufacturing plant, there I began to design from the beginning the Workplace Health and Safety Management System whose most urgent objective was to reduce work accidents due to entrapment injuries, which was one of the most common incidents, since there were no isolation systems in the machinery, it also aimed to reduce occupational illnesses due to manual handling, repetitive movement, noise and exposure to chemical agents and start a safety culture from scratch. The implementation of this system contributed to increasing the company’s productivity as results began to be seen in the reduction of disabling injuries, days not worked due to work accidents and to promote a clean, orderly and methodical process.
